we spent the whole day in our lounge pants and ate with tiny forks and matt dropped his cigar in the hot tub. wednesday, we went to my sister’s house and had the strangest but totally best christmas eve ever. just a small get together listening to holiday tunes and eating trout and hummus and fancy olives, sipping on cocktails. then hot tubbed in the frosty air with a great view of the stars and christmas lights. we ended the night watching ‘love actually’.
christmas morn we woke up to the sunshine (it has been cloudy every damn day this month) and dressed and made the trip to see my dad. we opened presents, ate lunch and got super sleepy on the sofa. it was a good day. very different, but good. sometimes getting out of traditions is really refreshing. not because traditions aren’t important or fun, but because it gives you a new perspective. and as long as love abides, who cares, right? so we had pork for lunch and not turkey. it was delicious. and so was the wine.
ah but it was a very merry christmas indeed. i got a t-shirt with david bowie’s face on it and a patriots fan towel, and some other stuff but those were my favorites. oh and a vintage wooden rack for my growing vinyl collection. the only sad part is we have to wait 364 days til next christmas.
