i love food, but matt REALLY loves food. good food. it’s like a spiritual thing with him. so i decided that we needed to take at least one day each week to come up with a new recipe and cook along side each other. there’s something about preparing and eating a meal with someone that connects you. the physical nature of chopping vegetables, assembling ingredients mixed with the smells and the tastes and even the sounds of cooking. it’s kind of a holistic experience. and then to sit down beside each other to share stories from the day and the fruits of your labor. life is so crazed sometimes that it’s good to slow things down and create and enjoy a meal. it was really nice.
this week, we decided to make a thai chicken coconut soup. the day was drizzly and dreary so a warm, cozy dish fit the occasion quite perfectly. it had a good balance of sweet and spice and a bit of earthiness. paired with a semi-dry german riesling. i can’t wait for next week.
