i call it the best worst trip because really, our time in kansas city was amazing even though monday night sucked so hard. saturday we packed our bags (and sweet booker boy too) and headed up north. our hotel was in the westport district and it was such a fun area of the city. great bars and restaurants and some super cool boutique shopping.
we hit up pot pie for dinner that first night. our bartender had the raddest style ever (see pic of smiley mustache guy). he gave us great tips on where to go and eat while in town and we basically hit every place on the list. matt and i seriously dined like kings and queens. one of our favorite stops was at cafe gratitude. all plant based vegan food, almost exclusively gluten free. basically, my heaven (i love me some animal protein, but this restaurants lack of dairy and glutenized products rocked my ever livin’ world). the steaming bowl of roasted veggies and brown rice helped to ‘fortify’ me for the struggle ahead.
of course we had to visit boulevard brew co. matt snagged a couple six packs of a very tricky variety to get a hold of. beer geeks are cute.
and for as much eating, drinking, and shopping that we did on our trip, it was super relaxing. we didn’t make any plans, just flew by the seat of our pants, as it were. which is exactly how we like to do things together.
